In Numerology, there are four "core" numbers that are used to help determine a person's reading. These are not the only important numbers, but they are very key to a reading. Any properly done numerology reading will include these. They are called:

1. Life Path Number -based upon your birth date.

2. The Expression Number (sometimes called the personality number) -is determined by all the letters of your full name that a person were given at birth.

3. The Soul Urge Number (sometimes also called the soul Path or Heart's Desire number) - is determined by a reduction of the vowels in your full birth name.

4. The Destiny Number - (also referred to as the Inner Dreams, Inner a person or Karmic Number) is based upon a reduction of the consonants of your full birth name.

What Does the Expression Number Tell Us?

The Expression Number speaks to the talents and personal potential that a person will have at his or her disposal during this lifetime. This number describes the ideal version of a person. It is what can develop if the person makes the right choices in life.

Some people can feel overcome when they first learn their Expression number because the potential described ideals may seem impossible to attain. Sometimes, they may feel disappointed in themselves because the interpretation somehow "rings a bell" and they realize that they have achieved their potential so far in this lifetime. Which is not necessarily the case.

One of the values of performing the Expression Number calculation is that it can be a wake up call that shows you just how far a person has strayed from their own goals and ideals. In essence, it can help a person remember what it was that he or she always wanted to be when they grew up. Some would say, it can rekindle their original purpose.

Without the fulfillment of the ideals of their Expression number in their lives people often feel empty or depressed no matter how successful they are.

Although a person may find it difficult to live up to the expectations of their Expression number, the reading is almost always a call to action that asks a person to live in the here and now and fulfill their original ambitions.

What Role Does the Soul Urge Number Play?

The unique interpretation that results from this number can almost be described as the ethical measure of who a person really is on this earth. It defines what or whom a person values most and describes "what makes a person bloom and what makes a person wilt."

The Soul Urge Number is a very spiritual reading and the value of it's calculation is that the resulting interpretation often points a person in the direction of where he or she can find real fulfillment in life.

The Soul Urge number is often very revealing because it also describes your inner desires as opposed to the limitations of your birth as imposed by the Life Path Number or your higher calling as described by the Expression Number. In essence it is the underlying guiding light.
