Origin:
1350–1400; ME magik(e) witchcraft < LL magica, L magicē < Gk magik, n. use of fem. of magikós. See magus, -ic
Synonyms:
2. enchantment. Magic, necromancy, sorcery, witchcraft imply producing results through mysterious influences or unexplained powers. Magic may have glamorous and attractive connotations; the other terms suggest the harmful and sinister. Magic is an art employing some occult force of nature: A hundred years ago television would have seemed to be magic. Necromancy is an art of prediction based on alleged communication with the dead (it is called “the black art,” because Greek nekrós, dead, was confused with Latin niger, black): Necromancy led to violating graves. Sorcery, originally divination by casting lots, came to mean supernatural knowledge gained through the aid of evil spirits, and often used for evil ends: spells and charms used in sorcery. Witchcraft esp. suggests a malign kind of magic, often used against innocent victims: Those accused of witchcraft were executed.
No matter what is your opinion on what Magic is there is something that is irrefutable: The very essence of Magic is CREATION. Do no let the superficial dictionary meaning of this powerful word fool you. Magic does not pretend anything, Magic Does!
It is important as, I always say, to know your history. Great leaders where practitioners of Magic and greater minds where believers:
1. Abraham
2. Siddhartha Gautama
3. Gandhi
4. Paramahansi Yogananda
5. Isaac Newton
6. Leonardo da Vinci
7. Carl Jung
This last one not only believed but also let a written legacy worth reading.
So...Can we all practice Magic? The answer would be yes and no. I know, I hate those answers too, but let me explain. With time two words have become exchangeable ant had make it hard to see the reality of both. To be a ¨spiritual person and to practice Magic. In first place, we are all spiritual beings in nature so we are all spiritual people. Maybe the word that you are looking when you want to refer to a ¨spiritual person is Seeker, Philosofer, Warlock/witch, or any other label that you prefer; Second, the true seeker of the truth does not care for labels and most of them, if not all, are practitioners of Magic.
Having this in mind let’s talk about the ¨yes and no¨ above. We are all capable and naturally attracted to believe in a higher power and to look for a way to feel complete and control some aspects of our surroundings. The thing with this path, that can be tough, is that the first step is so hard that many quit or skip it. In order for you to walk this path, light or dark, you need to have and encounter with yourself. This encounter should allow you to know yourself and the hard part, accept who you are. This is the step-stone of Magic; many consider it as an initiation. Many people believe that they have this figure it out and continued to the next steps in this path...This people will accumulate great amount of knowledge but will always complains that they can not do things that other that they consider no so ¨enlighten¨ can. This is the people that might fake many aspects of their life. Of course there are other people that are just interested in the knowledge behind Magic and never initiate consciously; to this people I send my love, Respect and gratitude, without you the initiates (prospects) could not make it.
Let say that you want to be a practitioner of Magic (true Magic) and you have not had that encounter with your self. Let me tell you something that you need to know:
- It is very painful to see all your flaws.
- Do not become cocky of your strengths.
- It does no mean that you have to change; it means that you have to accept who you are.
- This will not only be great for your path but for all the aspects of your life.
If you are ready this is what you need to do... You need to find a Magic ¨historian or practitioner and tell them this: ¨the student is ready to follow his/her teacher with no bound feelings. I still have to know who I am and accept it. If you would help me I promises to believe half of everything you tell me blindly and the other half confirm it in good resources. I will not become dependant of you but I will have most respect and love for you and what you do. In the future I will teach you things that I will learn on my path as paid for what you are going to do for me. I you do not accept to be my teacher I will respect you decision without asking why and still be your friend since your denial might be the biggest teaching of all¨
If it’s to long for you to remember write it down. After you say this offer a white feather and see what happens. The rest of this path will be follow up in future blogs.
